The mountain is calling!

An impressive 1,400 km of hiking paths lead through the Zillertal across lush meadows in the valley, through rustling forests, over mountain streams, and up to the tree line, where the PlatzlAlm invites you to enjoy refreshments at an elevation of 1,790 m. The PlatzlAlm is located right on the picturesque Zillertaler Höhenstraße - one of Europe's most beautiful alpine roads. 

In the area of the Hochzillertal, numerous theme trails, reservoirs, and wonderful summits attract visitors with their hiking paths in all difficulty levels.

Hubertus wildlife trail

From the PlatzlAlm, you can reach the Hubertus wildlife trail without any detours, which invites you to learn interesting information about the animals of the forest in the cool, allergen-free mountain air. The gravel hiking path is also accessible by children's stroller or wheelchair. With a total length of 3.5 km, it leads slightly uphill and downhill. At the 12 interaction stations, children can learn about wildlife in fun ways. 

Murmelland Zillertal - "Marmot Land"

Around the Kaltenbacher Skihütte, which you can easily reach on foot from the PlatzlAlm, you have the opportunity to get to know these clever Alpine inhabitants in their natural surroundings. In addition, an exciting playground with slides, swings, and a rippling mountain stream await your children. 

Stoamandlweg

High above the tree line, this loop trail promises incomparable views and many culinary highlights! After an uphill hike to the Wedelhütte at an elevation of 2,350 m, you will hike over the Wimbachkopf at an altitude of 2,442, m in around 1.5 hrs. to the gorgeous Kristallhütte. From here, you will head back to the PlatzlAlm. If you would like to experience another traditional hut, we recommend continuing your hike to the rustic Hirschbichlalm or Grünalm.

Peaks of happiness

Around the PlatzlAlm, you can experience the intense feeling of freedom and the power of the high alpine world on the numerous mountain peaks! In less than 2 hrs. from our hut, you can reach the Gedrechter at an elevation of 2,217 m or the Ried Wetterkreuzspitze at an elevation of 2,254 m. All hiking enthusiasts who want to experience another summit in the Tux Alps simply can't miss out on the Marchkopf at an altitude of 2,499 m.
